Royce Da 5'9 seems to feel slighted.
The Detroit rap legend shared a reaction to the nominee list for Lyricist Of The Year at the 2020 BET Hip-Hop Awards, and his take was pointed, to say the least.
On Tuesday, Royce posted his thoughts on IG. Making a not-so-subtle reference to the fact that many of those nominated for the honor are affiliated with Roc Nation, Royce gave a very Royce-ian response to the perceived snub.
“I been congregating in the wrong buildings, obviously,” he wrote in an Instagram caption with a screenshot of DatPiff's nominee list tweet.”I’m ciphering with a big ass @bumpboxx outside the next @rocnation brunch with the doorway blocked.”
The 43 year old rhymer has had a productive and inspired 2020. He dropped his eighth album The Allegory in February to widespread critical acclaim. Big Sean, Rapsody, DaBaby, J. Cole, Megan Thee Stalllion and Drake are up for 2020 Lyricist Of the Year at the show.
Among the other noteworthy nominees are D-Nice and DJ Drama for DJ Of The Year, 9th Wonder for Producer Of The Year, Run The Jewels for Best Duo Or Group, and Director X for Director Of The Year.
The BET Hip-Hop Awards are set for October 27th at 9pm ET on BET.
