Two Bay Area icons are scheduled to be squaring off in the next "Verzuz." Too $hort and E-40 are set to go track-for-track to close out the year.
Too $hort has been a pillar of the Oakland rap scene since the 1980s, with a career that spans decades and an influence that stretches across Hip-Hop. The Vallejo-born E-40's resume is just as impressive, having founded his Sic Wid It label in the 1980s and forging a blueprint for rap game independence. And with songs like "I'm A Player," "Captain Save-A-Hoe," "Gettin' It" and "Rapper's Ball" (not to mention a host of others), this is sure to be a treat for Bay Area Hip-Hop fans and rap fans, in general.
Prior to the announcement of $hort vs 40, 2000s R&B fans were disappointed to learn that the much-hyped pairing of Keyshia Cole and Ashanti was canceled after the news that Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19. But it looks like this next matchup is going to be a monster.
“Y'all know we had to do a BIG holiday party!” wrote the official Verzuz Instagram. These two West Coast legends will take the stage on Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. ET.
