Eminem and Snoop Dogg might need a sit-down. The two Hip-Hop icons have been embroiled in a somewhat mild (thus far) war of words. Em took exception to Snoop's comments about Em on Snoop's "Breakfast Club" appearance back over the summer. The tension between Em and Snoop has been a bit of a surprise to fans since both have been longtime affiliates of Dr. Dre and largely travel in the same circles, industry-wise.
After Snoop stated that he could "live without" Eminem's music as it relates to the canon of great Hip-Hop, Em took a shot at Snoop on "Zeus" from Em's latest Music To Be Murdered By Side B (Deluxe Edition).
"And, as far as squashin' beef, I'm used to people knockin' me / But, just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I'm tryna be / Last thing I need is Snoop doggin' me / Man, Dogg, you was like a (Yeah) damn god to me / Nah, not really (Haha)//I had "dog" backwards / But I'm startin' to think, all these people takin' shots at me / Shit, it's no wonder."
But after Snoop's comments on an Em Instagram fanpage, it looks like this could turn into a thing. The page posted the "Zeus" lyrics and Snoop commented:
“Pray I don’t answer that soft ass Shit"
In a Shady 45 interview last week, Em explained why he called out Snoop.
“I think it was more about the tone he was using that caught me off guard ’cause I’m like, where is this coming from?” Em said. “I just saw you. What the fuck? It threw me for a loop. Again, I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that shit.’ Now you’re being disrespectful. It just caught me off guard. I wasn’t ready for that.”
