Plug The Producer: Buckwild

The legacy of Diggin' In The Crates is a cornerstone of East Coast Hip-Hop. And superproducer Buckwild is one of the architects of D.I.T.C.'s unique sound. The Bronx native is the man behind classics from a range of legends; from Biggie to Big L. He can give you the roughest boom bap or the slickest radio fare.

Here are five of our favorite tracks from the one and only Buckwild.

Put It On - Big L

Buckwild's work within DITC is legendary and one of his finest moments is this classic single from the late, great Big L. The Harlem rapper delivered one of his more radio-friendly efforts, courtesy of the brilliance of Buckwild.

I Got A Story To Tell - The Notorious B.I.G.

Biggie's stature as one of Hip-Hop's greatest storytellers is well-deserved, and one of the tracks that cemented that part of his legacy was this classic. The hilarious story of a one night stand gone wrong is one of B.I.G.'s finest moments, and one of Buckwild's best beats.

Fast Life - Kool G Rap feat. Nas

Two of Queens' best lyricist team up on this heat rock from G Rap's critically-acclaimed solo debut. Over a stellar flip of 80s hit "Happy" by Surface, the duo boast about living lavish and indulge their kingpin dreams.

I Love You - Faith Evans

Faith Evans has some of Hip-Hop soul's most beloved songs and this banger from Buckwild and Mario Winans is one of the smoothest, sultriest singles she ever recorded. Shout-out to that Isaac Hayes sample.

Whoa! - Black Rob

How classic is this all-timer from the late Black Rob? It's one of the defining anthems of Y2K-era Hip-Hop. With that swirling sample (courtesy of an instrumental of "Joy" by François Valéry), Buckwild gave Rob one of rap's greatest backdrops. A banger to end all bangers.
