Phife Dawg forever!
The official music video for late A Tribe Called Quest rapper's "Nutshell, Pt. 2" has finally aririved. The track is a posthumous single that was first released back in February. The video is dropping five years to the day after Phife Dawg (born Malik Taylor) died unexpectedly at the age of 45.
Busta Rhymes and Redman guest on "Nutshell, Pt. 2" and show up to pay homage in the video. The song is set to be an appetizer for Phife Dawg's posthumous album Forever, which is due to be released later in 2021.
“Even though the family, the estate, and myself are completing Forever, I am so proud of Phife on this one,” DJ Rasta Root told Complex. “He always spoke about giving back to his fans, they were very important to him. I know he would want them to have this album as an extension of himself.”
In February, Phife's estate gave an update o nthe project.
“We are excited about the partnership with AWAL for Malik’s posthumous album release,” Phife’s family said via statement in Feb. “We give all glory to God for allowing Malik to accomplish everything his heart desired, including his solo music. He worked really hard to complete his album before he transitioned, and he was ready to share an album that was near and dear to his heart with his fans. His fans meant the world to him.”
