In celebration of the 25th anniversary of their classic album, ATLiens, OutKast has released an official animated music video to the iconic single, “Two Dope Boyz(In A Cadillac),” that premiered Thursday (August 26) on the duos Youtube channel.
After 25 years, the Atlanta duo’s second studio album has proven to be timeless. The project not only launched OutKast into superstardom but also kickstarted the rise of Atlanta rap music, proving the south had a lot to say.
The animated music video is in promotion of the ATLiens(25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) digital and vinyl release that will feature 14 unreleased instrumental tracks mixed in Hi-Res 24 bit sound, set to release Friday (August 27).
Along with the release of the exclusive vinyl set will be the OutKast ATLiens 25th-anniversary video game, where fans will be able to play the characters of Andre 3000 and Big Boi as they fight against an alien invasion in their city of Atlanta.
Released on August 27, 1996, by LaFace Records. ATLiens premiered on the Billboard 200 chart at #2 and sold about 350,000 copies in only two weeks of release. The album It has been certified double platinum by the RIAA for shipments of two million copies in the United States and generated the hit singles "Elevators (Me & You),” "ATLiens,” and "Jazzy Belle.”
