Method Man Praises 50 Cent and "Power Book II: Ghost"

50 Cent's Power garnered a rabid fanbase over the course of six seasons. The soapy crime drama become a major hit for premium cable channel STARZ, earning the highest ratings in the network's history. With the end of Power's run this past spring, fans were soon ecstatic to learn that the show's first spinoff Power Book II: Ghost will pick up where that show left off -- and it premieres this week.

Power Book II: Ghost follows the college (and criminal) career of Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), son of famed drug lord-turned-political-hopeful James "Ghost" St. Patrick (played by Omari Hardwick in the parent series). Naturi Naughton's Tasha St. Patrick makes a return in ...Book II; but the show centers on new faces, with names like Woody McClain (The New Edition Story), and Paige Hurd (Everybody Hates Chris) on board. Of course, the biggest new names are none other than Mary J. Blige (as maven Monet Stewart), and Method Man, who plays high-powered attorney Davis MacLean.

During an appearance on XXLs "Moment of Clarity" podcast, Method Man praised executive producer 50 Cent for his work in television.

"The work that y'all put in, Fif, it changed a lot of shit to the point where it's like you couldn't give up on the show," Method said in reference to Power. "Each week the ratings is going up and up and up. And it's strictly really word of mouth. The people did that, you know what I mean? But what brought them there is you. You brought them there. Now what kept ’em coming back is definitely the storylines and how authentic everything fucking is at the end of the day and shit."

Power Book II: Ghost premieres Sunday, Sept. 6 on STARZ. You can check out the trailer below.
