The 82 minute film examines the career of the nine-time Grammy-winning recording artist and Academy Award nominated singer and actress. Mary burst onto the scene in 1992, a young woman from Yonkers with a big voice and a style that revolutionized R&B and Hip-Hop in the 1990s.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Vanessa Roth (Freeheld) directs, as Blige discusses her landmark sophomore album My Life and explains the pain that inspired the album, and how her talent pushed her out of the housing projects and onto the international stage.
Blige executive produces alongside Sean “Diddy” Combs, Tara Long, Mark Ford, Kevin Lopez, Jeffrey Harleston and Jody Gerson. Ashaunna K. Ayars and Q. Nicole Jackson produce.
