Kurtis Blow is on the road to recovery following a massive heart transplant this week. The icon known for classics like "The Breaks" and "If I Ruled The World" underwent surgery in L.A. and appears to be on the mend. The Washington Informer released a statement from Kurtis Blow's wife, Shirley Walker, about the Hip-Hop legend's health.
“We give all glory to God for the perfect heart and transplant," she said. "He is out of surgery. Keep the prayers and praises up. God does all things well.”
Blow has had serious health problems over the last few years. He suffered two emergency heart surgeries in 2019 following a 2016 heart attack outside his home in Los Angeles. And his spleen ruptured this past March, as he revealed in an Instagram post.
“The Covid 19 virus is crazy but last week I had another emergency surgery,” he shared. “My spleen was bleeding into my stomach. I went to the ER just in time because my wife made me go. I wanted to go in the morning. The surgeon said I was lucky to make it in time. They took out my spleen and saved my life. My spleen had splattered and I was bleeding internally.”
Upon hearing of his recent surgery, fellow Hip-Hop stars showed love to the elder statesman and ordained minister.
"Get well soon OG," wrote Juicy J on Blow's instagram. "We praying for you."
