Kanye West premiered his long-awaited album, Donda, at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Thursday night (July 22). The event was broadcasted live on Apple Music for fans that could not make the live event.
We were gifted with a surprise collaboration with Jay-Z on the last song of the album, “Guess Who’s Going to Jail Tonight.” The Throne reunion comes as a surprise to many as the two were in somewhat of a beef in the last couple of years after Kanye would have some choice words to say about him on Twitter.
Jay’s verse comes from the perspective of a man in prison, as he references his friendship with Kanye despite their public fallout. He compares their relationship to “Moses and Jesus” and in the same verse marks the collaboration as the return of the Throne.
Rumors surfaced the web regarding the verse, saying that Jay had recorded it just 2 hours before the event, possibly an explanation as to why the show started almost 2 hours after the scheduled 8p.m ET. Fans will have to wait to hear Jay’s verse again as the album is yet to be officially released on streaming services.
