Jay-Z Celebrates 40/40 Club

Jay-Z Celebrates Anniversary of 40/40 Club With Shyne, Swizz Beats & More

Hip-hop icon and industry mogul Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter is one of the cultures most prolific businessmen. The Brooklyn rapper, his wife, Beyonce Knowles, and many of his celebrity friends celebrated the 18th anniversary and reopening of his iconic sports bar and lounge, 40/40 Club.

The original venue opened in New York City in 2003; after its massive success, Hov expanded the lounge to a chain of venues across the country in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Brooklyn. The venue is known for its sports-themed memorabilia, celebrity attendees, and live music.

The party brought together some of hip-hop’s most prominent and classic acts to celebrate Jay’s significant milestone. Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Uzi Vert, Meek Mill, Remy Ma, Dave East Pusha T, and Swizz Beats were all in attendance with many more notable names.

Perhaps the highlight of the night was the moment Jay-Z and Belizian rapper turned politician Shyne reconnected after his deportation to the country after his 1999 NYC club incident. The Bad Boy emcee took to his Instagram to share the moment while saying a few kind words about Hov.

"It was great catching up with my brother Shawn Jay-Z Carter," writes Shyne. “Jay is one of the greatest Musicians and entrepreneurs ever that I know. A bonafide American world icon."

"I’m always inspired when we meet," he continues. "I admire the humanitarian work Jay is doing with criminal justice reform and providing start-up capital to invest in African American entrepreneurs. My determination to do the same for my Belizean people is reinforced. Happy 18th anniversary to Jay’s 40/40 brand. Continued success and excellence, brother."

This connection is legendary, to say the least. What a testament to how powerful and universal hip-hop is. Both artists exceeding expectations and breaking barriers becoming both entrepreneurs and community leaders. Shyne would agree, “Classic moment in time! BELIZE-BROOKLYN!!!”
