J. Cole Releases Freestyle Over Drake’s CLB Track

J. Cole fans got a pleasant surprise from the North Carolina emcee when he dropped a surprise  freestyle over the instrumental to  Drake’s CLB track, “Pipe Down”. On Tuesday (Sept. 21) Cole released the freestyle as “Heaven’s EP” along with a music video where the rapper cruises around Las Vegas spitting to the track.

In hip-hop’s current competitive state, as Drake and Kanye West compete for the album of the year, and Kendrick Lamar claiming he’s “smoking on top fives,” J. Cole knows he’s one of the dopest emcees out but he shies away from the cameras and red carpets.

J. Cole raps, “Some people say that I’m running third, they threw the bronze at me/

Behind Drake and Dot yeah, them niggas is superstars to me. Maybe deep down  I’m afraid of my luminosity/So when you see me on red carpets, I’m movin’ awkwardly.”

Cole is coming off the heels of the release of his sixth studio album, The Off-Season. The album was well-received by fans and critics alike, on the project Cole is back to his passionate and hungry rap style, spitting at the top of his class. Cole is preparing to promote the album on his The Off-Season Tour kicking off on September 24.
