EarthGang Releases Music Video For 'Erykah'

Atlanta hip-hop duo, Earthgang surprises fans with a cut celebrating timeless and soulful music with their new track “Erykah.”

Johnny Venus and Doctor Dot trade verses on the instrumental to Badu’s 2010 single “Window Seat,” the two reflect on the importance of originality and authenticity in art. The two sound like they are genuinely having the time of their lives in the studio while making this song. “Why so serious?” Doctor Dot refrains on the intro to his verse. The song is accompanied by a music video compilation of the duo vacationing and simply enjoying life.

“First time I heard an Erykah Badu song, I was probably like six. I was riding around with my uncle on 285 on the West Side,” Venus says in the intro. “And ‘On and On’ came on the radio, and I was like, I ain’t heard nothing like this before.” The Dreaville signees use Ms. Badu as an example of what real music sounds like, as she is the epitome of unapologetic creativity and authenticity.
