Did A Dr. Dre 'Detox' Track Just Get Leaked?

An alleged track from Dr. Dre's long-shelved now-mythic album Detox has hit the Web. Journalist Chad Kiser premiered the full version of (unofficial title) “Get It” on his website. The song had previously leaked online as a snippet back in 2018. Kiser posted the full version of the track on Monday.

50 Cent once freestyled over the instrumental on 2009's one-off “50 For President." That song was released just before 50's Before I Self Destruct album.

Dre shelved Detox forever ago, but sounds invigorated over the track.

“I’ma fuck that nigga bitch, I’ma get me a chain/I’ma rap and blow the roof off this hip-hop game. I’ma slang a couple beats, get rich like you/Dre ain’t the only nigga with tracks, I got heat, too/The shit might happen if you fuckin’ work as much as you talk/Get some money and you blow it because you tryin’ to floss!”

Back in 2018, ESPN's Chris Haynes shared that Dr. Dre implied that he's still tinkering with the Detox project. Haynes tweeted that he saw Dre at a Golden State Warriors practice; and the sports reported said he asked about the long-gestating album, to which Dre responded:

"I'm working on a couple songs right now. We'll see."

Earlier this year, Akon also spoke about his work on the album.

“I know for a fact I did a couple of bangers that the world probably will never hear," Akon told VladTV. "But man, from what I did hear when we were working together and I was submitting records for ’em, man, they got so much heat. But he’s just a perfectionist — too perfect.”
