Bun B Again Supports Megan Thee Stallion: "So Be It"

Megan The Stallion's shooting over the summer became one of the most controversial topics of 2020; especially once the rap superstar named fellow artist Tory Lanez as the shooter. The shooting became a flashpoint, and Lanez drew criticism after Megan stated that he'd shot her, with rap legend Bun B calling out Lanez, in particular, in defense of fellow Texas native Megan The Stallion.

In a new interview with HotNewHipHop, Bun B reiterates his support for Megan and says others maybe would not have stood with her had he not been vocal.

“I mean, people are usually waiting for that first person to say something, and then more and more people will step to the table,” he said. “I feel like if I hadn’t said anything, I’m not sure how much people would have even spoken on this issue. And if my relationship with Tory Lanez is damaged, then so be it. We have to protect our Black women and any Black man that doesn’t feel the same way is not my brother.”

The Texas rap OG called out Lanez in August, with Bun posting on Instagram his contempt for the alleged incident.

“Tory Lanez did some ho shit, period,” Bun said in August. "Yeah, I know Tory, I know his manager and all them, fuck all that though. Fuck all that. If the man on drugs, get him some goddamn rehab. If the man got mental health issues, get him some therapy. But you not gon’ sit here and shoot this girl and we not gon’ say nothing. That shit not real n-gga shit. It’s not. Anytime a man hurts a woman, that’s obsession. That ain’t love. He had no reason to shoot this girl.”

In the latest interview, Bun also praised Megan as an artist.

"She wears the risky outfits, and all of that kind of stuff. I get it. But outside of all of that, you can't really question Megan's lyrical ability. You know, so I think she did a good job. She does a good job in songwriting, overall. She has her flow. She's locked in with her flow, but she also has her subject matter. And she's locked in with that. And she's found a way to make both of them work; to be sexy and lyrical at the same time. It's amazing."
