Biz Markie Reportedly Recovering From Stroke:<Br> "He's Not Doing Great"

Hip-Hop legend, renowned DJ and ROCK THE BELLS Radio host Biz Markie reportedly suffered a stroke and is currently in the process of recovery. According to reports, the Juice Crew member fell into a diabetic coma a few months ago after being hospitalized for diabetes complications and then suffered the stroke.

A source explained to HipHopDX what's going on with Biz's health.

“He’s not doing great, but it’s not as scandalous as it felt in the beginning. Short story is Biz is diabetic, he had slipped into a diabetic coma, but that has happened to him in the past and it would only last a little while. He would go to the hospital, get discharged and get his meds under control. This particular time, he had a stroke while he was in the middle of the coma.”

He's reportedly awake and staying in contact with family members via FaceTime, but the stroke has made communicating difficult.

Biz (born Marcel Hall) has been dealing with health issues for a while now; and he's worked hard to adapt to a healthier lifestyle, famously losing 140 lbs and talking about it in 2014 after he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

"I wanted to live," Markie told ABC News at the time. "Since I have to be a diabetic, If I didn't make the changes, it was going to make the diabetes worse. I'm trying to get off [the Diabetes meds]. The way you gotta do it is lose the weight. I'm off half my meds, I just got to get off the rest."

Biz became an official spokesperson for sugar-free Zevia soda to advocate for healthier food choices. "They said I could lose my feet. They said I could lose body parts. A lot of things could happen."

More updates on Biz Markie's health as the story develops.

Get well soon, Biz.
