Long-time collaborators and good friends, Eminem and 50 Cent have likely been inspiring each other in the studio for years. Em gave 50 a shoutout on the standout track “EPMD 2” in Nas’ album King’s Disease II. 50 revealed the verse put the battery in his back to get back in the booth himself.
“When Em does something that stands out to me, it’s special,” he told People. “He just had a performance on Nas’ album, and it made me want to record again because of my connection to it. He sounded so good that I was like, ‘I gotta write something.'”
50 explained due to his schedule, there may not be a collaboration in the works anytime soon but the Queens legend was inspired to start writing rhymes again. “I feel like I’m still in it,” 50 continued. “Even if I don’t share it with the general public, it forced me back into writing, going to the studio and recording something.”
Although we may not catch the two emcees in the studio together anytime soon, fans can watch Eminem’s appearance on 50’s Black Mafia Family as FBI informant White Boy Rick. The show is coming to Starz in late 2021.
“I’m honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show BMF,” 50 Cent said in a statement. “We couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem.
